Abstract: The global trend of population ageing has significantly increased the mental health problems of the older population. Music education activities, as a proactive form of intervention for psycho-emotional well-being, have the potential to effectively alleviate psychological stress and improve emotional regulation in older adults. Drawing on a wide range of experiences in transnational education, this study seeks to explore and analyse some of the roles that music education can play in promoting the mental health and well-being of older people. Through an in-depth analysis of music education models in different cultural contexts, the study identified various shortcomings in these programmes in terms of meeting the specific needs of older persons, as well as shortcomings in the area of teacher training. Based on the results of the analysis, a series of recommendations for optimising music education for older people were made, with the aim of applying transnational educational experiences to all aspects of older people's lives and improving the mental health of the older population in a comprehensive and holistic manner.Introduction
